Bergara (Gipuzkoa), 10th March 2015
The publisher, Claves de Gestión has published a book explaining Lazpiur's success. The publication was presented this afternoon at the University of Deusto, in the cycle of "Management Lectures" organised by Asociación para el Progreso de la Dirección (APD) [Management Progress Association] and Deusto Alumni and the publisher, Claves de Gestión.
The event was attended by the CEO of the Guipuzkoa-based company, Miguel Lazpiur, who manages the company alongside his brother, Agustín. He was accompanied by the book's author, Pedro Gómez Damborenea, and José Guillermo Zubia, former secretary general of the entrepreneur association, Confebask, who has maintained a close professional relationship with Miguel Lazpiur and who has written the book's prologue.
The book, entitled 'LAZPIUR. El modelo de una pyme ejemplar' ( LAZPIUR. An exemplary SME model) breaks down the crucial aspects of a family business that started out manufacturing shoes at the beginning of the 20th century, evolving into an innovation-based company which exports 80% of its output, specialising in two areas: forging tools and machinery.
The company with head offices in Bergara (Guipuzkoa) celebrated its centennial last year. It is a discernible example of a medium sized Guipuzkoa-based company. With its roots in the Alto Deba region, its uncompromised industrial character has never faded since its beginnings. It operates with multinational automobile companies such as Ford, Mercedes, Volkswagen and TIER-1 suppliers such as Lear, GKN, NTN...
Miguel Lazpiur also held a responsible position at the Basque entrepreneur association, Confebask, where he served as President from 2005 to 2011. He also served as Vice President of the Spanish entrepreneur association (CEOE) and the Guipuzkoa-based organisation (Adegi).
Lazpiur has received various awards including the Korta Prize, which the Basque Government awarded Miguel Lazpiur in 2012 in recognition of his business achievements. The company also holds the most important quality certificates, such as the Gold Q, obtained in 2006.
The book is available from various outlets: El Corte Inglés, Casa del Libro, Elkar, Amazon, La Llar del Llibre...
